New York City is composed of five boroughs:
The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island are all included. Each borough is coextensive with a county in New York State.
The boroughs of Queens and the Bronx are sometimes known as Queens County and Bronx County, respectively. The other three counties are called after their respective boroughs: Manhattan is known as New York County, Brooklyn is known as Kings County, and Staten Island is known as Richmond County.
