Khoy County

Khoy is located in ’s Azerbaijan Province. The ’s is Khoy. Khoy was fortified at several points during its , most recently by the Qajar dynasty in the nineteenth century. Khoy was seized by Ottoman soldiers in 1911, and then by Russian troops during World I, who retreated in 1917. During World II, it was once again seized by Soviet soldiers, who lasted until 1946. Khoy is located in the highlands, thus the temperature is chilly in the winter and cool in the summer. The is surrounded by mountains such as Chelekhaneh and Avrin.
