Downtown Pittsburgh, colloquially referred to as theĀ Golden Triangle, and officially theĀ Central Business District,Ā is the urban downtown center ofĀ Pittsburgh.

It is located at the confluence of theĀ Allegheny RiverĀ and theĀ Monongahela RiverĀ whose joining forms theĀ Ohio River.

The “triangle” is bounded by the two rivers.

The area features offices for major corporations such asĀ PNC Bank,Ā U.S. Steel,Ā PPG,Ā Bank of New York Mellon,Ā Heinz,Ā Federated InvestorsĀ andĀ Alcoa.

It is where the fortunes of such industrial barons asĀ Andrew Carnegie,Ā Henry Clay Frick,Ā Henry J. Heinz,Ā Andrew MellonĀ andĀ George WestinghouseĀ were made.

It contains the site where the French fort,Ā Fort Duquesne, once stood.
