He is known for his license to kill, and his ability to outsmart and outmaneuver his enemies. Bond is famous for his suave demeanor and his love of martinis, shaken, not stirred.
The character of James Bond was created by the British author Ian Fleming, who wrote a series of novels featuring the character. The first Bond novel, Casino Royale, was published in 1953. The character has since appeared in over 20 novels and more than two dozen films, making him one of the most enduring and popular characters in pop culture.
